Not a lot of difference this week apart from the puppies being a bit bigger. They are keeping us on our toes.
The weather thankfully has been a lot drier and so the puppies have had a fair amount of play in the garden. Healey has taken a liking to Ivy and they have been playing a lot together :).
We had a fair amount of struggles trying to trim all nails but got there in the end.
We have had more visitors again this week...Read Full Post »

We had lots of visitors this week and the puppies all get excited when anyone goes into the room with them. They like to bite at toes and ankles and have sharp little teeth.
The whelping box was removed at the end of last week and they have a large pen plus crate to play and sleep in.
They enjoy playing with toys but seem to prefer puppy tumbles together. They drink regularly from their water bowl and so far haven't managed to tip it overRead Full Post »

Today the puppies are 4 weeks old and so we go into our 5th week.
They now are in a re-arranged nursery and have their whelping box to play in, a crate and bed to sleep in and lots of space to run around in and make lots of mess!
Lots of little teeth have been breaking through and quite often the puppies can be seen gnawing on a puppy panel
They have a collection of toys to play with, their favourites being the car...Read Full Post »

The puppies are now 3 weeks old and have had their first dose of worming suspension. Not knowing what was happening, they all took it quite well - I don't expect that will be the case next time!
We have also started weaning and the pups have enjoyed tasting some weetabix mixed with a little Whelpi milk. They all ate hungrily and got into the bowls feet first, ending up in a lovely mess.:) None of them complained with the wash that followed and were soon al...Read Full Post »

The puppies are almost 3 weeks old now and this week they have all opened their eyes. They get up and walk about on all fours and make their way to the newspaper end of the whelping box for a pee
They have begun to bark and play mouthing games with each other.
Yesterday they all had their nails trimmed so hopefully their 'paddling' will be a bit more comfortable for Inca.
They are getting a bit too big for the ready basket and ...Read Full Post »

The puppies are now 11 days old and have doubled their birth weight. Some of them are now standing and beginning to walk on all four legs, staggering for a few paces like little drunks!
Skye and Healey have both popped their heads into the whelping room to take a look and have a little sniff but didn't hang around for long.
Inca is spending more time out of the box during the day and is looking forward to going for a walk.

At today's weigh-in two of the girls Kracker and Merry hadn't gained any weight from yesterday so we're making sure that they get first pickings each time today. They do all seem very content.
Inca enjoyed some time out of the whelping room to help Skye and Healey open Christmas presents. She particularly liked running around with a squeaking/laughing toy. She was also very quick to pull her cracker and eat the contents!
Inca has a ...Read Full Post »

All the puppies are feeding well and gaining weight; 3 of them have reached the 1lb mark and the others not far behind. Inca is doing well and is sleeping more than she did with her first litter. Also eating well.
Kracker was born with some black pigment on her nose and now some of the others are beginning to get little black spots. They all make lots of noise, especially the girls - I noticed this last time - no comments please gentlemen!
